Post-Graduation Resources: Home

A guide to help navigate access to online resources, bar study, and printing/scanning at the Law Library after graduation.

Online Resources Timeline

  • Before Graduation - ASAP!

    • Westlaw: To extend your access, follow the prompts on the Westlaw sign-in page to enroll in Grad Elite. Grad Elite provides 60 hours of monthly access to Westlaw, Practical Law, Drafting Assistant, and more, for 18 months following graduation. Downloads and printing through Grad Elite are capped at 600k lines of text.

    • Bloomberg Law: If you have not activated your Bloomberg law profile, do so before graduation at https://profile.bloombergindustry.com/bloomberglaw-activate/. Once activated, access continues until November 30, 2025.

    • CEB:  If you haven’t already set up a CEB account, request one at https://research.ceb.com/register/academic to receive 18 months of access after graduation. Use law code BKX25 (before May 31) or BKX26 (after May 31).

    • Lexis+: No action needed. Access runs through December 2025.
       

  • Friday, May 16th, 2025

    • Happy graduation! You did it!

    • Access to VPN software ends.

    • Registration for extended access to Westlaw and Bloomberg Law ends.
       

  • June 2025

    • Access to UC Berkeley Software ends: Software licenses for Microsoft, Adobe, and Zoom Pro will expire a few weeks after graduation.
       

  • July 10, 2025

    • Lexis+ changes from student to graduate view: Students can choose a free product extension as a Graduation Gift.
       

  • August 2025

    • ​​​​​​​Access to campus databases ends: Your CalNet ID will allow you to access all Main Campus Databases (other than those with individual passwords) until mid-August.
       

  • November 30, 2025

    • ​​​​​​​Access to Bloomberg Law ends.
       

  • December 31, 2025

    • ​​​​​​​Access to Lexis+ ends.
       

  • May 2026

  • December 31, 2026

    • ​​​​​​​Access to Westlaw Grad Elite and CEB ends.

Bar Study & Printing/Scanning

  • Can I study for the summer bar exam at the Law Library?

    • Yes! As a recent graduate, you'll be able to study at the Law Library through July 2025, including on weekends. Make sure to bring your Cal1Card for building access.
       

  • Can I use the Law Library after the summer bar exam?

    • After July 2025, you're welcome to visit us as a public patron - we would love to see you! Please note that the Main Reading Room is reserved for currently enrolled law students only and the Law Building is closed to the public on the weekends.
       

  • Will I still be able to print and use the computer lab after graduation?

    • No - our printing and computer labs are reserved for current students only. However, you are welcome to use our public scanner (see below).
       

  • Can I scan materials at the Law Library after graduation?

    • Yes! The public scanner in the Law Library Reserves will be available to you. Scans can be saved to a USB drive or emailed.
