Law Library Search Basics

The Law Library's website has a user-friendly search bar (Books + Articlesand links to LawCat, the Law Library's catalog. 

User-Friendly Search Bar - AKA Books + Articles Search 

  • Use the Books + Articles search box to pull together a wide variety of material -- books, e-books, journal articles, government documents -- from multiple databases.  
  • If you don't find what you are looking for here, try UC Library Search.

LawCat, the Law Library's catalog

  • LawCat is separate from UC Library Search, the catalog for all UC campus libraries.
  • LawCat is a great place to check to see if a book in our collection is available electronically.

You can do several types of searches from the Main Library's website.

  • Books + articles (AKA UC Library Search)
  • databases
  • journals
  • digital collections
  • search of the lib.berkeley.edu website
  • Choose your search by clicking on the down arrow as illustrated in the image above.
