Newspapers: Good News!

The Law Library sponsors subscription to the New York Times online for current law school students, faculty and staff only, and many other newspapers offer a general student discount that can be set up using your berkeley.edu email account. See below for registration details.

The main campus Library also provides online access to many news outlets via current news and historical news databases - accessible on campus, or remotely (using CalNet authentication).

New York Times

Berkeley Law Library sponsors access for current Berkeley Law students, faculty and staff. Register using your Berkeley Law email (@law.berkeley.edu or @berkeley.edu); you will receive a verification email from the New York Times (it may take several days) and then a confirmation email. You will need to re-register each year as long as you are affiliated with the Law School.

Wall Street Journal

UC Berkeley's ASUC and Graduate Division sponsors access for students, faculty, and staff. To activate, choose "Student" or "instructor," type in Berkeley, and create an account using your Berkeley email address. Customer service and account management information can be found in the main library's A-Z Databases list.

Financial Times This link opens in a new wind

Haas School of Business sponsors access for all UC Berkeley students, faculty and staff. To register an account, go to FT.com and enter your berkeley.edu email address, then choose "SSO Sign-in."

Washington Post

WaPo offers students, faculty, and staff a discounted academic rate for its All-Access Digital subscription.

Low-cost subscriptions for other papers

Simply run an internet search for the newspaper's name (as a phrase in quotes) and add the phrase "student subscription" to find any special deals
