Computing Guide: bCourses

A guide to computing at Berkeley Law.

bCourses and Troubleshooting

bCourses (https://bcourses.berkeley.edu, also sometimes referred to as "Canvas" - this is the name of the mobile app) is the course management and collaboration environment on campus. The majority of classes in the law school use bCourses for things like course materials, announcements, media links, assignment submission, and web collaboration.

Common bCourses questions:

  • I can't access the course I just enrolled in.
If, after 24 hours, you are still unable to access your course, please contact your instructor or, if concerned about your current state of enrollment, the registrar's office.

  • I'm not able to access the seating chart for my new class.
If, after 24 hours, you are still unable to access the seating chart, please email webapps-law@berkeley.edu.

  • I can't access a file or play a video from bCourses.
If the file isn't showing up on bCourses, please contact your instructor, as there may have been an issue in the uploading/sharing process. If the file you're trying to access is showing up, but you're unable to download/view it, the issue is likely a matter of clearing or allowing cookies in your web browser. Please email studentcomputing@law.berkeley.edu or visit the Helpdesk in person at the circulation desk or LL121 if you need assistance.

  • I have a general bCourses question.
The "help" icon, available on any bCourses page, can provide support.

Cal Central

Cal Central (https://calcentral.berkeley.edu) is a site designed to pull notifications and information from all your different personal campus resources (bConnected, bCourses, billing/financial information, etc.) into one easy-to-view location.
