Lexis, Westlaw, and Bloomberg are proprietary, online, full-text document retrieval systems that permit access to state and federal cases, codes and regulations, as well as law reviews, newsletters, and selected legal texts and practice tools. Law students will receive registration codes for these services via email during orientation week. You will be required to register your new codes with Lexis, Westlaw, and Bloomberg.
You will be able to sign up for training sessions on these systems throughout your law school career. If you need help doing Lexis, Westlaw, or Bloomberg searches, you should consult with the reference librarians.

Follow the instructions provided via email to register for each service. You will need the registration codes from the email. If you have lost the email or a registration code has expired, contact Michael Levy, associate director of the law library, to obtain a new one.

Westlaw - visit https://lawschool.thomsonreuters.com/register/
Bloomberg - visit https://profile.bna.com/bloomberglaw-activate/ and fill in the prompts, making sure to use your official @berkeley.edu email address.
There is no free Bloomberg or Westlaw printing. Lexis does offer free printing to registered law students. Any Lexis printing you do will not be deducted from your print allowance, so long as you make sure to use Lexis printing options rather than printing through MobilePrint/Pharos.
Lexis documents are sent to 1 of the service's 2 printers which are located in the LL130 printing/scanning room. Please do not attempt to fill or maintain these printers on your own. Notify a Lexis representative if there are printer problems, as these printers are staffed and maintained by Lexis. If there is no rep available, you can ask a labtech for help, but you may also need to contact the technical support staff at Lexis if the issue is beyond the labtech's area of expertise.
Lexis has a rotating file stand set up for old print jobs. If at anytime you print from home through your Lexis account, your jobs can still be printed to the Lexis printers in the print/scanning room. These files tend to be quite large and can easily pile up, so during the semester they are filed alphabetically by last name and placed in the rotating stand located adjacent to the printers. The stand is cleaned out every week or two, so please be prompt in retrieving your documents or else they will be recycled.
Please pay particular attention to printing from Lexis. You will not be charged for documents printed from Lexis so long as you route your Lexis print jobs to the Lexis printers; however, any Lexis print jobs routed to the computer lab's own printers will be charged against your account.
You can print to the Lexis printers by first logging into your Lexis account and then using the Lexis website's print button and options to print your documents to their printers. After clicking the print button, you will need to change the default printer selection from Attached printer to LexisNexis Printer, then select one of the two LL130 printers available. Do not use the traditional File > Print method to print or you will likely end up printing to the lab printers or your home printer.
